Trip Overview. On Saturday, October 28, 2000, we took two canoes down the Sabinal River. Don McCann went solo in a 14 foot Mohawk and, along with my next door neighbor, I went in my 17 foot Grumman. We put in at the town of Utopia and took out at the southernmost, and farthest downstream, of the two bridges on FM 187.
The Lodges main property is located on RR337 between Vanderpool and Leakey in an area known as the "Swiss Alps of Texas". We also offer other properties located on the Sabinal River off of RM 187 in Vanderpool.
